DANIELLA ALLEN
i was lucky enough to work at the Birmingham Conservatoire as a visual animator for the Walter Bergmann remembrance concert. whist there I created a display of visual images and animations that I painted and animated myself to portray the study of moving paintings.
The images I created were combined with a performance of a narrated children's story, set to music created by one of their student composers. The performance was on Sunday 18th February in the Conservatoire’s main Concert Hall and the story featured a Shepherdess, a magic recorder and various animals.
The Conservatoire was given this little story book (called 'The Shepherdess') in 2015, as part of a collection of important notebooks which had belonged to the music educationalist and early music scholar, Walter Bergmann; the concert was a celebration of his life and career, thirty years after his death in 1988. The Storybook is hand-written and beautifully illustrated, by a mystery author called ‘Paeman’, and given to Walter Bergmann on his 80th birthday in 1982.
